Where to Bike in Ocean City
Here are some of the best places to ride your bike in Ocean City.
Ocean City Boardwalk
Start your morning with a leisurely ride along the Ocean City Boardwalk. Ride past the historic amusements near the Inlet. Or, let the smells of the boardwalk restaurants tempt you to enjoy some local seafood, salty fries and sweet confections. The boardwalk is buzzing with activity during the afternoon and evening, so enjoy its sights before the crowds arrive.
Biking on the boardwalk has limited hours during the summer season. Bikes are allowed on the boardwalk from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 2 a.m.–11 a.m. On the Tuesday following Labor Day, until the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, bikes are allowed on the boardwalk at any time.
Northside Park
Located near Ocean City’s northern end is Northside Park—the perfect place for family fun. Northside Park is the site of a number of free events throughout the year, such as Sundaes in the Park, as well as paved paths for walking, jogging and biking. If you ride past Northside Park, you’ll arrive in charming Fenwick Island, Delaware.

Assateague Island National Seashore Park
Biking is a great way to explore Assateague Island National Seashore Park. Skilled cyclists can travel down MD-611 by bike to get to the island. Once nearby, go across the bicycle-pedestrian bridge and follow the paved path on Bayberry Drive. Along the way you can catch a glimpse at some of the area’s wildlife, including the wild horses, and other natural habitats.

Ocean City Cycling Laws
The Town of Ocean City considers bicycles to be vehicles when it comes to obeying traffic laws. When riding around Ocean City’s streets, especially on Coastal Highway, remember these rules:
- Stop at all red lights and stop signs
- Ride in the direction of traffic on the road
- Do not ride on a sidewalk – it is illegal and dangerous
- Your bike must have lights after dark: white in front; red in back.
- Don’t allow anyone to ride on the handlebars
