Looking Forward: The Next Generation of Ocean City

The Taustin Group Welcomes 2021 with Fresh Cocktails, Expanded Menus and Updated Outdoor Dining Venues at BLU Crabhouse & Raw Bar and the Revolutionary Pier 23

With almost a century of entrepreneurial history in the area, the Taustin family has witnessed the development of the Ocean City experience while also playing a pivotal role in that evolution. The Taustins are responsible for introducing the bright pink storefronts of Candy Kitchen, debuting Embers Restaurant as the city’s first all-you-can-eat prime rib and seafood buffet, elevating the outdoor dining experience with BLU Crabhouse & Raw Bar, and bringing special effects to miniature golf at Embers Island.

As Ocean City responds to the most challenging set of circumstances in its history, the next generation of Taustins will once again strive to raise the bar. BLU Crabhouse & Raw Bar will continue to serve OC locals and tourists alike in its 10th Anniversary season, highlighting expanded and enhanced indoor and outdoor dining experiences. BLU has always been a predominantly outdoor destination and, with various renovations and additions, the restaurant will continue its tradition of providing its guests with the best fusion of the crab house and seafood a la carte experiences.

Bringing an Ocean City adventure to new heights is The Taustin Group’s newest operation, Pier 23. “Pier 23 is Ocean City’s first waterfront container food port,” explains Cole Taustin, CEO of the Taustin Group. “The facility is constructed from renovated shipping containers retrofitted around food and beverage service.”

Each decked-out container prepares a unique set of plates from spicy tacos and deli sandwiches to grilled burgers and ice cream. Accompanying the from-scratch eats are a host of craft beers and handcrafted cocktails served from the bar container, all of which can be enjoyed while watching a live performance from the Pier 23 stage. “Our cargo is outstanding food and exceptional drinks. It is your destination for quality entertainment in a setting unlike any other in town,” says the Taustin Group.

The Pier 23 motto, “Eat, Drink, Chill,” caters to all Pier 23 visitors including families seeking live entertainment, passersby enticed by savory aromas and hungry boaters docking at one of the Pier’s nearby slips. Pier 23 also incorporates innovations in carry-out and contactless service options to allow patrons to engage safely.

The Taustin family has a history of being at the forefront of innovation in Ocean City. “The ventures of BLU, Pier 23 and the upcoming development of the Embers 24th Street property build upon the creativity and vision that our great uncle and father demonstrated,” says Kyler Taustin. “We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this next iteration of their legacy.”
