Jolly Roger Amusement Parks Makes Waves in the Ocean City Community With Fun and Philanthropy
by Grace Silipigni
Jolly Roger Amusement Parks has grown tremendously over the course of its 58-year history. What began as a franchise location for Arnold Palmer Putting Course and Driving Range is now a premier destination for Ocean City visitors outfitted with water slides, carnival rides, go-kart tracks and more. The Ocean City staple boasts five unique experiences spanning its two locations on 30th Street and the Ocean City Pier.
Park founder, Charles “Buddy” Jenkins, dedicated his career to giving back to his patrons. For decades the park remained in a constant state of expansion and renovation to provide guests with the ultimate amusement park experience. Today, Jolly Roger builds upon Jenkins’ legacy by giving back to the Ocean City community.
“Our team is really involved in the community,” says Dawn Dillon, Director of Sales & Marketing for Jolly Roger. “We host several sales throughout the year including our Valentine’s Day Sale, Easter Sale and Black Friday Sale, which is perhaps our biggest community event. We decorate, give out hot chocolate and host the local radio station.”
Other notable partnerships include United Way, Diakonia and the HMRA Trade Show as well as the Ocean City Christmas Parade and Berlin Christmas Parade, both of which Jolly Roger has won.
At Jolly Roger, Christmas returns in July for its annual Toys for Tots event. “We love giving back to the community and even bring in the Marine Corps to celebrate [with us],” explains Dillon.
