Annual OCMC Canyon Kick-Off
All IGFA rules apply with the following exceptions. The fish may be hooked and the rod passed to an angler. Spreader bars may be used. The use of non offset circle hooks is mandatory in natural bait & natural bait/lure combinations in the canyon kick-off. No green sticks. Intentional use of live bait or live bait teasers is not allowed for any and all tournaments and seasonal awards. No chunking in any OCMC Tournaments. Bailing dolphin is not allowed in OCMC tournaments.
TOURNAMENT CHANNEL – 72: You must call in all released billfish over the radio–boat name, species, & time. You do not need to call in gamefish. LAY DAY: Must be declared by the start time of the fishing day. NO EXCEPTIONS. Leave message at the Club: 410-2131613. If no call is received by the start time of the fishing day, boat or shore based angler is automatically considered as fishing. You may also declare a lay day at registration. FISHING GROUNDS: Boundary 100 miles from the Ocean City Sea Buoy. You may leave from either Indian River Inlet or Ocean City inlet and all fish must be weighed at location to be announced.
SCORING: Most Billfish Released – 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Heaviest Fish – 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Scoring for the Release Division works on a point system.
NO POINTS AWARDED FOR BOATED BILLFISH.
POINTS DIVISION: White Marlin, Sailfish, Spearfish – 100 pts. Blue Marlin, Swordfish – 150 pts.
Photo identification required of a Blue Marlin to ensure proper identification of the Billfish. If no photo identification is available, White Marlin points will be received. In the event of a tie: the boat which released its last fish first wins. No points awarded for boated Billfish. Non-sonar Boats: Boats who declare at registration that they are NOT fishing with an OMNI or similar scanning sonar will receive an additional 50 points per White Marlin, Sailfish or Spearfish and 75 points per Blue Marlin released HEAVIEST FISH DIVISION: Tuna – 30 lbs (Yellowfin, Big Eye, Longfin). Minimum Dolphin – 10 lbs. minimum
