When you visit Ocean City, you have plenty of options for overnight accommodations. The most common choices are Ocean City’s hotels or rental properties. Away from the hustle and bustle of the Ocean City Boardwalk and downtown area, you can find a more natural setting to spend the night in. Near Ocean City, you’ll find plenty of campsites to accommodate everything from simple tents to luxury RVs. Or, choose to stay in a cottage, wood cabin or another rustic home during your camping trip. Here are the best campgrounds near Ocean City.

These campgrounds are just about 10 miles away from Ocean City, Maryland. When you aren’t catching some sleep under the stars, take advantage of the hiking trails, fishing, swimming and other activities available.
Assateague Island National Seashore
Home to Assateague’s wild horses, Assateague Island is a fantastic place to surround yourself in coastal Maryland’s natural settings.
Assateague Island has several campgrounds available, including oceanside drive-in, oceanside walk-in, bayside drive-in, group campgrounds and horse camps. Camping facilities come with toilets, cold water showers and drinking water. Backcountry camping is also an option for those who also want to backpack and paddle along the island’s waters. Backcountry camping requires a permit.
Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Campsites are reserved through the National Park Service and are $30 per night.

Assateague State Park
Just a bit north of Assateague Island National Seashore is Assateague State Park, offering a similar natural environment. Assateague State Park is Maryland’s only oceanfront park. Discover two miles of beaches perfect for swimming, surfing, fishing and simply relaxing.
Assateague State Park as 342 campsites available, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Electrical hook-ups are available at some campsites, for an additional fee. Pets are welcome on several of Assateague State Park’s campsites. The Pony Express Giftshop and Grill has all your camping needs, as well as a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks.
Campsite reservations are made through the Maryland State Park Reservation Service, and advance reservations are recommended. Campsites are a base rate of $27.49 per night.

Castaways RV Resort & Campground
For luxury camping accommodations, stay at one of Castaways’ campsites. Situated on the shores of the Sinepuxent Bay, Castaways boasts views of the Assateague National Seashore and the Ocean City skyline.
Castaways offers a variety of overnight accommodation, including rental cottages, RV and motorhome sites and tent camping. All RV campsites are equipped with water, electric and sewage hook-ups, as well as cable, WiFi, a fire ring and picnic table. Rental cottages can sleep up to six and have a fully furnished living room and bedrooms.
This pet-friendly and family-friendly resort destination features on-site dining, nightlife, a fitness center, private beaches, an arcade, watersport rentals and more.
Frontier Town Campground
Frontier Town has a variety of amenities for you to enjoy on your camping trip. Nestled along the Sinepuxent Bay, award-winning Frontier Town has plenty of events and activities both on land and on the water.
Campers can choose from primitive to luxury campsites, with 500 available. Primitive campsites do not include any kind of hook-ups. Frontier Town does have hook-ups available for water, electric and sewage. Each campsite comes complete with a picnic table and fire ring.
Cabin rentals, that sleep up to six people, are also available.

Pocomoke River State Park
Pocomoke River State Park offers camping year-round. With 235 campsites available at Milburn Landing and Shad Landing, there’s plenty of scenic places to pitch a tent along the Pocomoke River.
Shad Landing has the most campsites, many of which remain open through winter. All campsites feature a fire ring and picnic table. Hot water showers, laundry tub and toilets are centrally located. Some campsites even have electric hook-ups.
Milburn Landing is closed during winter and is best for those looking to hike and bike while at Pocomoke River State Park. Amenities are limited at Milburn Landing, although some sites do have electric. Pets are welcome at these campsites.
Pocomoke River State Park also has sites for group camping and also one- and two-room mini rental cabins.
Campsite reservations are made through the Maryland State Park Reservation Service, and advance reservations are recommended. Campsites are a base rate of $21.49 per night at Shad Landing and $18.49 per night at Milburn Landing.
Treasure Beach RV Park
Treasure Beach RV Park, just across the border in Selbyville, Del., has been family owned and operated since 1972. This safe, family-friendly RV park and campground is just a couple miles away from the Atlantic Ocean. With over 1,000 full hook-up campsites, you’ll have plenty to choose from.
All tent sites include water and electric hook-ups. The premium-pull-thru RV sites are equipped with water, sewage, electric and cable hook-ups. For luxury accommodations, book one of the lakefront or wooded cabins, complete with a full kitchen, bathroom, television and more.
Treasure Beach also features great amenities, including swimming pools, playground, basketball court, fishing pier, boat ramp, activities center, entertainment area and more.
